Blueberry Math!

Cheepsters, if you’ve been here a while, you know how I feel about unit pricing. This week we’ve got a great example: blueberries.

They freeze great, they work in smoothies, and can be eaten plain or in a dish. Blueberries are a great item to stock up on. Knowing the price to stock up on is key–and for that we need to be able to compare prices!

This week we’ve got–

Fiesta:        pint, $1.99.

Randalls:    pint $2.50.

HEB:           pint, 98c.

Sprouts:      18 oz., $1.98

I nearly made an error. I’d really thought the Sprouts deal was the best, and was going to put it on my Happy Ad Wednesday post. “$2 for more than twice as much,” that was my thinking.

But then my math brain kicked in, and started making noises about ‘how many ounces are in a pint’ and ‘just because a lot of berries are sold in 6 oz. units not all are’.

Turns out I’m not the only one that thinks about this, and it turns out that if you price it out by the ounce, HEB is the place for blueberries this week.

So stock up, Cheepsters, and have a wonderful, safe holiday with family and friends!
